North Principal Ryan Fletcher

I am excited and honored to have joined the Bradford community, and I am looking forward to all that is ahead in the coming school year!  My passion for education and my commitment to young people have always guided me in my career.  I value the collective thought and action it takes to accomplish any goal, and I have dedicated my time in schools to building strong communities of collaboration and shared leadership.  I know that partnership and teamwork are essential in creating a healthy and successful school environment; I am always eager to listen and ready to act in the best interests of students and in a way that moves us forward as a community.

Student safety, success and wellbeing are my top priorities. I have always recognized the importance of creating communities and spaces where students feel seen, heard, respected and valued.  Supporting the healthy social emotional growth of our students alongside their academic development is vital to the success of our school as a whole.  I am committed to promoting a sense of connection throughout our community and embedding a spirit of inclusiveness into our culture.

During my time in education I have found that many adults carry around memories of middle school – not always positive ones.  And I recognize the anxious anticipation that many students can feel when they leave elementary school and transition to middle school. I have spent my career as a middle school educator working to shift the culture and the mindset around middle school – helping students and families see and experience what an exciting, empowering, formative, and truly fun time it can be.  I want our incoming 5th grade students to feel welcome and supported from the moment they walk onto campus, and I want our 8th grade graduates to walk away with genuinely positive memories and a strong connection to their middle school community.

From a young age I knew I wanted to be an educator.  I graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later earned my Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Santa Clara University. I taught math and science for several years before becoming an Assistant Principal in Palo Alto, CA. After five years in that position, I became the principal of Piedmont Middle School in Piedmont, CA where I spent the last nine years.  Our family made the big decision to relocate to Colorado – and while it was hard to say goodbye to our communities in California, we felt so excited about this move and the start of a new chapter for our family.  I hope you will have a chance to meet my wife Laura and our two children, Quinn (9) and Halle (6).  We love watching sports together, laughing and listening to music, having spontaneous living room dance parties, and spending time outside – in our yard, biking around town, and out on the ski slopes.  We are excited for all the fun family adventures ahead as we settle in and explore our new state.

Again, I am so happy to be here at Bradford North and I look forward to our partnership moving forward!
